Burglary in Castletown

I was away at the weekend and came back to find I'd been burgled. Broken back door, broken stair lock, laptop stolen along with my credit card and about £5-£10 in change from my change bottle. I'm not having much luck at the moment, what with a car crashing into my house in January! Keep your windows and doors locked (not that I didn't), and keep your eyes peeled.

Also if anyone is offered a silver Apple Powerbook G4 in a black tight fitting Apple branded case please tell me and the police. Ta.

The laptop looks like this:

Needless to say, i'm well f**ked off. I've had five-0 round this arvo and they've done some dusting for fingerprints etc, but haven't come up with much.

Commiserations.

I thought burglary had died down a bit in recent years, but if I see anything then you and the boys will know.

A friend of mine once had four items stolen from the boot of his Cortina on Stychfields car park and would recite the four items in the same order whenever he got the chance, as it had annoyed him so much. However, six weeks later I saw them in the Post, in the same order, or I might not have noticed. I told him, as he lived in Rugeley and got a different edition in those days. An hour later the cops came round for him to identify the stuff. Telling as many people as possible really does make it more difficult for them to shift stuff.

Unlucky. Hope they catch the thievin B******S
Well considering they nicked the shitty amount of change from the bottle leads me to believe it was some smackhead, so let's hope that the sticky end they come to is self-inflicted and doesn't affect anyone else. W****rs.

Along with the fact that they left a lot of other stuff behind (nice TFT telly, nice PC, DVD players etc etc), I can't imagine it would be anyone but a desperate addict.

Ah dude really really sorry to hear that! Was it just your house which has been burgled so you know?

Is the fare in town still?

The fair was on at Stafford Common at the wkend wasn't it? I've been told by a friend in the force that numbers do rise in the area when the circus comes to town.

I presume that you told the cops. What reaction did you get? I was looking after a place that had a window broken and so I went to the station to report it, in case the absent owner might want a report number for the insurance. I expected a perfunctory response, but I was interrogated by a really keen lad who took me back there in his car and then knocked all the doors up and down the road, just to make the point. We had a good idea who it was and he let them know that he was personally very interested in how things progressed. There was no more damage. It was almost embarrassing for just a broken window - I thought that he might get the helicopter out at one point!

Edit:- Just noticed the line under the picture, sorry. It's always worth a try as these people can be very careless in the heat of the moment, and it usually is the usual suspects.

You got an old web cam? Set it up in the window scanning the front door, even if not plugged in people will think twice. We used to have one at the last place, although that was cos we were too lazy to answer the door without knowing it was for us!

oh mate, thats rubbish. :(

are you insured? not that it helps get anything back...but it will at least replace the laptop, cover you for purchases on the card and hopefully pay to fix the damage.

take full advantage of the crime prevention officer (whose services should be offered) especially re: fixing a new lock/door. they might also be able to offer advice re smartwater (i know ive mentioned it on here- it really is the business...its even been on CSI!)

given what theyve stolen it sounds like they were alone and didnt have transport- else the tv might have gone too. its the easy stuff theyve taken- stuff that can be hidden easily and sold quickly.

hope youre ok though love- its a truly shit thing to have happen.

Cheers peeps.

Yeah I've been pretty impressed by the police so far...they came round within about an hour of me reporting it, took a very thorough statement and had a good look at points of access through my garden/my neighbour's garden. The female officer was super hot. Seriously! She also did door-to-door but as far as I know nobody saw or heard anything.

Then a fella from SOCO came round and dusted for prints...unfortunately to no avail. Today I've had 2 calls from them so far...the first from a DC who was asking about the details of my credit card which was taken, then a lady from the police station giving me the details of the local PCSOs who've been informed, and who I can call should I notice anything else suspicious. Good to know that they're being active, as I've heard some stories from folk who haven't even been visited following a similar incident.

When you say dusted for prints to no avail, surely they found yours and your mates?!?!
He didn't find anything on the back door (presumably as it was knocked through with a piece of wood or a brick), nothing discernable on a laptop which was left behind (which is g-unit's old one and is broken), and nowt on the screwdriver or the door handle to the stairs..

Bad news Andreas. The fair packing up Sunday definately always makes me wonder!!

Obviously many people know me for being the cheapest PC service around, and it's quite amazing how many people "forget" the password to a laptop... so if anything is put my way mate I'll be straight on to it!!!

Whoever they are, I agree that we live in hope of them bringing their own end one step closer! B**&^rds!

My ears are peeled back for you bud.
